This position is exclusively available through the 2025 Durham Region Refugee Hiring Event. To qualify for this opportunity, you must meet all of the following criteria:
Refugee or Forcibly Displaced Status:
Arrived in Canada as a refugee (government or private sponsorship).Applied for asylum after arriving in Canada (refugee claimant/asylum seeker).Were forcibly displaced from your country of origin (e.g., individuals from Ukraine, Afghanistan, Iran, and other affected regions).
Residency:
You currently live in Ontario. (Candidates living outside of Ontario/Canada will not be considered)
Event Attendance:
Be available to attend the in-person event in Ajax on April 2, 2025.
Work Eligibility:
Legally authorized to work in Canada (must possess a valid work permit, permanent residency, or Canadian citizenship).
Age Requirement:
Must be 18 years of age or older.

Position Summary:
The Electric Motor machinist will be responsible for set up and operating a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. Ability to fabricate, modify, or repair motor instruments, fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines and should be able to apply knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
