Eligibility Criteria for the 2025 Durham Region Refugee Hiring Event

This position is exclusively available through the 2025 Durham Region Refugee Hiring Event. To qualify for this opportunity, you must meet all of the following criteria:

Refugee or Forcibly Displaced Status:
Arrived in Canada as a refugee (government or private sponsorship).Applied for asylum after arriving in Canada (refugee claimant/asylum seeker).Were forcibly displaced from your country of origin (e.g., individuals from Ukraine, Afghanistan, Iran, and other affected regions).

Residency:
You currently live in Ontario. (Candidates living outside of Ontario/Canada will not be considered)

Event Attendance:
Be available to attend the in-person event in Ajax on April 2, 2025.

Work Eligibility:
Legally authorized to work in Canada (must possess a valid work permit, permanent residency, or Canadian citizenship).

Age Requirement:
Must be 18 years of age or older.

Conditions of Employment

This position will require you to pass an online assessment before the day of the event . If you meet all the requirements and pass the online assessment , you will be invited for an interview on the day of the event. 

Prior to the start date, the successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check dated within two (2) months from date of hire. Proof of education, qualifications and any other job bona fide requirements will also be collected.
